Research-To-Practice Brief
Supporting Gay Dads: Information and Tips for Gay Men, Fatherhood Practitioners, and Other Family Support Professionals
Until recently, gay men who became fathers generally did so through an opposite sex relationship, but this has changed over the last 20 years or so as opportunities have expanded to have children through adoption, foster parenting, surrogacy, and coparenting with women who agree to a coparenting arrangement. This National Responsible Fatherhood Clearinghouse brief provides information to support gay men who are considering fatherhood or have already become fathers. The brief includes tips and resources to help fatherhood programs and other family support professionals engage and support gay dads and their families.
