The U.S. Departments of Labor, Commerce, and Education published a report, America’s Talent Strategy: Equipping American Workers for the Golden Age, which presents a bold vision and concrete actions to transform the federal government’s approach to workforce development. The strategy outlines the Trump Administration’s blueprint for how it will prepare the workforce to seize the opportunities of President Trump’s America First economic agenda and power the nation’s entry into a new Golden Age of economic growth.

This Department of Labor announcement introduces the report and outlines the five strategic pillars of America’s Talent Strategy: Demand-Driven Strategies, Worker Mobility, Integrated Systems, Accountability, and Flexibility and Innovation.

Healthy Marriage and Relationship Education (HMRE) programs support families by offering a range of services for youth, couples, and adults to increase their knowledge of healthy relationships and strengthen skills such as communication and coparenting. More than 40 HMRE programs in the current Administration for Children and Families (ACF) grant cycle chose to conduct local evaluations, and although each evaluation is designed for a specific local program, the collective learning opportunity is much greater when programs use a common framework and consistent evaluation standards and approaches.

The Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation released this toolkit to help HMRE programs and their evaluators adopt a common approach to designing and conducting evaluations to strengthen learning and support improved outcomes. This practical resource elevates local evaluations across the HMRE portfolio and supports a unified body of evidence to inform future program design and support improved outcomes. The toolkit supports alignment, enabling ACF, program leaders, evaluators, and other interested parties to better synthesize findings across cohorts and funding cycles and make meaningful progress on helping families in a variety of circumstances.

Public benefits agencies can use public data and simple analytic techniques to make decisions about program design and service delivery to ensure they are reaching the people they are trying to serve. This Urban Institute report provides six recommendations for using public data for the goal of understanding more about populations of interest and access challenges. The report also describes the process of conducting these analyses and key considerations for other agencies, researchers, and advocates who wish to implement this approach.

This webinar will equip attendees with practical information and resources that can be used to connect families to these nutrition programs. 

When the school year ends, millions of children lose access to the school breakfasts and lunches they rely on during the school year. This can exacerbate summertime food insecurity for those children in kinship. The Summer Nutrition Programs are designed to replace school breakfast and lunch and can help lower food costs for families. These programs ensure that children have consistent access to healthy meals during the summer months, which is critical for their health and well-being. This assessment provides a foundation to understand the scope of the childhood chronic disease crisis, the conditions that created it, and the mechanisms through which it continues to grow. Without this foundation, interventions risk being reactive, fragmented, or ineffective. The assessment identifies four potential drivers behind the rise in childhood chronic disease that present the clearest opportunities for progress.

The “Success Sequence” is a proven formula to help young adults succeed in America. The three steps are

1. get at least a high school degree; then
2. get a full-time job; and lastly,
3. get married before having children.
