OFA's Community of Learning on Two-Generation Strategies: Introductory Convening

On September 19-20, 2016, the Administration for Children and Families, Office of Family Assistance (OFA), hosted an introductory convening for its Community of Learning on Two-Generation Strategies in Washington, DC. Eleven teams from across the country were selected to participate in this year-long initiative to learn from peers and nationally recognized experts about two-generation strategies that meet the needs of children and parents together. The Community will focus on using strategies that support workforce development for parents, provide access to high quality educational experiences for their children, build social capital, and improve the well-being of children and families. At the introductory convening, teams heard from subject matter experts in two-generation practices, policies, and research, as well as experts in building participant social capital and implementation science. The convening mixed interactive panel discussions with the opportunity for peer networking and time for teams to engage with expert content faculty and work together to develop an action plan to drive the implementation of their two-generation strategies.
