This Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) report follows up the 2014 CDC Beginning the Dialogue report. The current report illustrates how the field has identified primary prevention and implemented the Social Ecological Model, a mapping of the multiple risk factors contributing to sexual and intimate partner violence at individual, relationship, community, and societal levels. The report also distinguishes between community-level and community-based intimate partner violence prevention approaches. It highlights what is needed to shift prevention efforts toward cross-sector and community-specific partnerships and concludes by highlighting the direction toward which prevention efforts are moving.

This MDRC set of videos identifies how implementation research is used to evaluate and improve program performance in real time, rather than identifying findings at the conclusion of a long-term longitudinal study. Profiles of three programs that have used implementation research are featured in the videos and include Communities in Schools, Detroit Promise Path, and Madison Strategies.

The Institute for Research on Poverty at the University of Wisconsin at Madison will host a webinar on November 20, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. ET to cover the latest research on the dynamics of noncustodial fatherhood involvement and co-parenting. The webinar will also offer strategies for providers to support families more holistically by valuing and engaging mothers and fathers and promoting co-parenting relationships. Speakers include researchers from the Institute for Research on Poverty and the Men’s Health Unit at the City of Milwaukee Health Department who will cover statewide and national trends and programs.

This Brookings Institution report from the Hamilton Project examines the reasons behind the decline in labor force participation over the last two years. The analysis identifies trends in labor force participation by age, gender, race, and educational level. The report also reviews proposals for increasing participation among non-college-educated workers and how changes in caregiving responsibilities, health and disability, and criminal justice reform affect engagement with the labor market.

This Urban Institute report presents motivations and barriers faced by employers that provide work-family supports. The report also highlights employer perceptions about public policies that help low-wage workers address or manage work-family supports, such as paid leave, workplace flexibility, and subsidized child care. The findings also reveal ways that employer-based policies can be integrated and aligned with work-family supports. The report draws on interviews with 16 organizations that represent or directly work with employers and notes that further research on work-family supports for low-wage workers is needed.
