The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) seeking public input on the modernization of CareerOneStop and O*NET, two key workforce information resources used by job seekers, workforce professionals, and employment service providers nationwide. The effort is intended to improve access to career exploration, training, labor market information, and employment resources through a more user-friendly, mobile-accessible platform with enhanced functionality.

DOL is specifically seeking feedback from workforce practitioners, state and local workforce agencies, and other stakeholders on how these tools can better support frontline service delivery, reflect regional labor market needs, and improve the user experience for job seekers. For Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) practitioners, this RFI is an opportunity to share insights on how clients with employment barriers interact with career and workforce information systems and identify enhancements that could strengthen case management and employment outcomes. Comments will be accepted through August 10, 2026.

Families often need more than a single service to achieve lasting economic mobility. As a facilitation model for building long-term collaboration between communities, public systems, and nonprofit partners, the Blue Sky Possibilities Framework encourages organizations to think broadly about family well-being and identify opportunities to better support children, parents, and caregivers. For Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) practitioners, the framework can serve as a planning and discussion tool for exploring how programs can address both immediate needs and long-term goals. It helps TANF staff consider what conditions support family success and where partnerships, policies, or services may create stronger outcomes.

This faith-based training program combines soft skills, job readiness, and employer engagement. It provides an example of how community partnerships can expand access to career pathways and help participants achieve lasting employment outcomes.

The Office of Family Assistance’s TANF Outcomes Technical Assistance and Logistics (TOTAL) team delivers training and technical assistance to state TANF programs and partners responding to the Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2023 (FRA). The team hosted their January office hours on January 22, 2026 to review the Work Outcomes of TANF Exiters Report submission requirements and share observations from previous report submissions and learn from states’ experiences. This session included an introduction to the FRA Outcomes Working Groups and the sign-up process.

This checklist helps TANF agencies identify issues and prepare the Work Outcomes of TANF Exiters Report. The checklist is optional and does not need to be submitted, but using it is recommended to ensure an accurate report and a smooth submission process. The Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation’s Supporting Evaluation Efforts for Demonstrations in Self-Sufficiency (SEEDS) project provided evaluation support and capacity building to 20 Family Self-Sufficiency Demonstration Development (FSSDD) grant recipients. These grant recipients operate many different types of programs for families who are eligible for or at risk of becoming eligible for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families. SEEDS developed resources to support FSSDD grant recipients in conducting research, improving program outcomes, and building evidence capacity. This resource serves as a guide for human services leaders who want to use evidence to inform and improve their programs.

This Center on Budget and Policy Priorities tool includes a compilation of state-by-state eligibility, operations, and outcome data across all 50 states and D.C. on Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). It pulls data from a variety of reports on program eligibility criteria, waivers, and other metrics.

This resource is designed to support state and territory agencies in successfully understanding, preparing, and submitting the required Work Outcomes of TANF Exiters Report (quarterly), the required Secondary School Diploma or its Recognized Equivalent Attainment Rate (annually), and the optional Supplemental Work Outcomes Report (annually).
