Who Will Do the Jobs of the Future? Educating Workers for the Green Economy Today

Drawing on findings from an October 2021 forum of 30 national stakeholders convened by MDRC and JobsFirstNYC to discuss how career and technical education (CTE) and workforce development programs can train people for green careers, this blogpost identified four principles to equitably prepare young people for green and sustainable jobs. The blogpost presents forum participants’ reflections on these principles, which include increasing employer engagement, emphasizing equity in recruitment and training, retooling all education and training to be green, and drawing on existing resources so programs can be expanded rapidly.
