Racial Equity and Job Quality

Job quality includes multiple components such as wages and benefits, worker safety, opportunities for advancement and worker autonomy with impacts on earnings and wealth accumulation, career trajectories, physical and mental health, and family well-being. This brief synthesizes the research on racial disparities in job quality, particularly among Black and Latinx workers, and identifies some of the causes for these disparities. The brief also presents gaps in knowledge and areas for further research.
