The Opioid Epidemic: From Evidence to Impact

The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Medicine and the Clinton Foundation’s Clinton Health Matters Initiative prepared this report, which looks at the growing crisis related to the U.S. opioid epidemic. It outlines specific and proven recommendations for how to combat the epidemic most effectively, including expanding coverage and accessibility of overdose and reversal drugs and changing the way healthcare professionals, employers, and advocates talk about addiction to reduce stigma. This report is intended as a resource for individuals with opioid-use disorders and their families; clinicians who prescribe opioids and those who treat people with opioid-use disorders; health system administrators; policymakers; researchers; journalists; law enforcement officials; employers; service providers; and agencies at the local, state, and federal level.
