Native Data Sovereignty Can Address Data Gaps and Improve Equity

This article speaks to how critical sufficient data collection is for equitably and responsibly supporting Native people’s well-being. Because insufficient data on Indigenous populations is often cited as a reason behind the inability for evidence-supported decision-making, the article suggests a Native-centered approach that acknowledges both a wider definition of data and recognition that Indigenous peoples are, and have been, expert data collectors, keepers, and users for thousands of years.
