How Registered Apprenticeship Benefits Apprentices & Employers
Apprenticeships can provide employers with workers with the skills they need and offer job seekers the chance to work and earn money while they learn and build skills for well-paying jobs. In the past, the registered apprenticeship model in the U.S. has largely been limited to jobs in construction and manufacturing and usually to white males. In 2015, the U.S. Department of Labor’s American Apprenticeship Initiative (AAI) provided five-year grants for the expansion of registered apprenticeship programs to non-traditional sectors such as healthcare and IT and to more diverse populations, including women and workers of color. Abt Associates will host a webinar on December 6, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. ET which will include results from an evaluation of AAI assessing the extent to which apprenticeships benefitted employers and job seekers. The webinar will also feature an AAI grantee who will share unique insights and practical strategies for implementing a registered apprenticeship.
