ACF Convening Black Experience Community Roundtables

The Administration for Children and Families (ACF) is hosting roundtable discussions with the public to hear directly from Black and African American people about their experiences with ACF programs such as Head Start, child care, cash assistance, and foster care, and their encounters with racism and bias. ACF’s goal is to listen, learn, and understand challenges so they can address the barriers that Black people are facing. ACF wants to center the perspectives of their program participants into their policies, programs, and operations.

Each session will host 50 people, with facilitated discussion groups of about 5-7 people. These virtual 90-minute community roundtables will be held via Zoom on:
• July 11, 2022, 2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. ET;
• July 12, 2022, 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. ET;
• August 3, 2022, 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. ET; and
• August 4, 2022, 3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. ET.

ACF is particularly interested in diverse representation from Black communities including those who are:
• Adults, young adults (18-24 years old), parents, and caregivers
• Members of the LGBTQ+ community
• Persons with disabilities
• Members of the refugee and immigrant community
• Individuals who may not have engaged in discussions with federal agencies in the past
