2021 National TANF Directors’ Meeting Session: Using TANF Work Programs to Promote Equity

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Office of Family Assistance (OFA) conducted the 2021 National TANF Directors’ Meeting from September 20 - 24, 2021. During this concurrent workshop, presenters discussed a framework for how states can use the flexibility they have to redesign their TANF programs to promote racial equity. An interactive discussion with attendees included responses to the framework from different vantage points. Attendees left the workshop with a concrete framework and action step for shifting the focus of their TANF work program to promote racial equity. (From Racial Equity and TANF Programs Track)
