This two-day workshop was coordinated by the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) Region IX and Region X offices, with the support of the ACF Welfare Peer Technical Assistance Network. The purpose of this event was to provide a forum for the sharing of the latest research, perspectives, and promising practices regarding job retention and post-employment services for TANF clients. The workshop combined presentations from key Federal, State and corporate experts. Information related to post-placement services was provided by Region X state representatives.

A Look At Faith-Based Programs

Record Description

This document reports on the results of the two day meeting, A Look at Faith Programs, held October 24-25 in Indianapolis. HHS coordinated this meeting to explore the role that faith-based organizations (FBOs) can play in support of welfare reform. During the workshop, statewide faith initiatives from five states were highlighted. Program strategies for expanding the role that faith-based agencies play in supporting the state in delivering welfare related services to TANF recipients and low-income individuals were discussed. Specific topics addressed during the workshop included program planning and design, collaboration, outreach, program funding, and contract monitoring/evaluation.

Site Visit to Cornerstone Assistance Network: A Faith-based Intermediary Organization

New York City Human Resources Administration Site Visit, New York, NY

On June 3, 2004, the Welfare Peer Technical Assistance (TA) Network sponsored a one-day site visit to the Human Resources Administration (HRA) in New York City (NYC). The purpose of the site visit was to provide the State of Maryland, Department of Human Resources (DHR), Family Investment Administration (FIA) staff the opportunity to observe New York's use of JobStat, a program which allows the city to set goals and monitor and measure outcomes of performance indicators established for NYC welfare recipients, workers, and job centers.
