This report is a feasibility assessment, which is an analysis of alternative datasets and analytic approaches that might be used to assess the effects of Hurricane Katrina on populations served by the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). This report shows the continuing needs and programs needed to serve the population. Additionally, authors identify lessons learned that can help improve service delivery in future disasters.

The Build a Career Ladder/Lattice Tool helps the user build career ladders/lattices that outline critical experiences individuals need to progress through a career in a specific industry.

This study, which was done through the National Fatherhood Initiative, provides an estimate of the taxpayer costs of father absence. Fatherhood absence has increased from 8 percent of children in single-mother households in 1960 to 34 percent in 2008. Researchers estimate the cost of father absence to the federal government to support father-absent homes equated to around $99.8 billion dollars in Fiscal Year 2006. One of the largest fatherhood absence expenses is TANF at around $15 billion.

This report was funded through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation and provides data from a survey of 1,200 faith-based and secular nonprofit social service agencies. The results show FBOs that integrate religious elements into service delivery and secular nonprofit organizations are more accessible to poor populations than FBOs that do not integrate religious elements into service provision. FBOS are currently providing the safety net to support TANF leavers on a path to self-sufficiency.

Information on kinship care is crucial to TANF stakeholders in supporting the child-only caseload in their States.

The report provides a wide range of data, which includes information on receipt of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF).

The U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics authored this report, which was completed using data from the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth. This survey was completed over a 25 year span and offers information on work experiences, training, schooling, income and assets, health conditions, and other characteristics. Information on this report shows that from age 18 to 42 the average person held 10.2 jobs in the labor market.

From the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, this report provides data on the importance of father involvement within the lives of children. Researchers analyze case outcomes for children within the child welfare system in relation to nonresident fatherhood involvement.

This report is from the Congressional Research Service, and provides information on youth aging out of the foster care program. There are currently Federal programs in place to support older youth in care to transition into adulthood. Additionally, Federal law allows for States to provide workforce and housing services to this population. Engaging foster care youth is important in supporting this population in achieving self-sufficiency.
