The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities released a paper on the characteristics of rental assistance recipients in 2010. The paper uses 2010 administrative data submitted to HUD by State and local housing agencies and private owners that administer rental assistance under HUD's three general purpose programs: the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV), public housing, and project-based rental assistance (PBRA) programs. The data was used to analyze the extent to which households receiving rental assistance are attached to the labor market or subject to work requirements in other programs, and consider strategies to boost tenants' employment and earnings. The data found that 88% of households that received rental assistance in 2010 were elderly, disabled, working, or likely have access to work programs under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program.

The National Responsible Fatherhood Clearinghouse hosted a webinar, "Working with Dads: Fathers of Children with Special Needs." This webinar focused on issues faced by fathers and families with children of special needs and provided useful information and resources for practitioners and fathers. Issues faced by fathers raising children with chronic illnesses or developmental disabilities, practical things that dads of special needs children can do to support each other and their children, and ways that fatherhood practitioners can identify and provide support to fathers of special needs children were addressed.

The National Transitional Jobs Network (NTJN) released a report that focuses on the designing and implementing of transitional jobs (TJ) programs that serve individuals experiencing homelessness. This report is particularly beneficial for TJ practitioners looking to better serve their participants who are experiencing homelessness, homeless service providers considering TJ as a potential employment services model, and anyone interested in how the TJ model can be used to provide access to employment for people experiencing homelessness.

The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities released a report discussing the benefits of strengthening the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) for childless workers in order to promote work and reduce poverty. The report addresses how strengthening the credit could bring about social and economic benefits through an increase in labor participation, marriage rates, and a decrease in incarceration rates. In addition to this, examples on how to strengthen the EITC for childless workers are also discussed.

The Center for Work & Family released a new summary report titled "The New Dad: A Work (and Life) in Progress." This report is a part of the "New Dad" series of published research that reports on the changing roles of fathers. These reports have studied the transition to fatherhood, how men manage career and family priorities, how they share caregiving responsibilities with their spouses, and what supports fathers look for and receive in their workplaces. "A Work (and Life) in Progress" provides information on fathers and work-life, as well as outlines specific recommendations for both fathers and fatherhood organizations.

The U.S. Department of Labor, Employment & Training Administration has issued special tabulations of combined five-year samples (2006-2011 data) of the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey (ACS). These special tabulations include separate sets of tables for the nation, States, counties and other types of localities. The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) requires States to use data on economically disadvantaged youth and adults win their within-State allocation formulas.
