Corps to Careers: Building the Bridge Between Service and Today’s Careers

The Annie E. Casey Foundation’s Corps to Careers initiative offers ideas for helping young adults turn service experiences into career opportunities. This five-year effort supports 11 service and conservation corps programs as they strengthen employer partnerships, improve training, and expand pathways into well-paying jobs in fields such as construction, clean energy, water management, and natural resource conservation. Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) programs can draw on this approach when designing employment supports for young adults, including exploring partnerships with service programs and workforce organizations, aligning training with employer needs, and building clearer connections from skill development to jobs and career advancement.
