Child Care Relief Funding in the Year-End Stimulus Deal: A State-by-State Estimate

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a devastating impact on the U.S. child care and early learning sector. In response, the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021 provides $10 billion in needed pandemic-related relief for the child care sector; this fact sheet shows an estimated breakdown by state of the Act’s additional child care relief funding. As providers have been faced with reduced enrollment and increasing costs to serve children safely, these pandemic relief funds can be used to lower family co-payments, pay salaries at child care facilities, and help providers in reopening following COVID-19 lockdowns.
