The Peer TA Network would like to know what States are doing to assess and serve TANF participants with learning disabilities?
A representative from South Fulton Service Center would like to learn about some creative intake procedures from other states/cities related to their intake process.
A representative from the Community Partnership would like to know if anyone can recommend any training sessions or classes that would benefit the coordinator of a program designed to eliminate barriers to employment, so as to enable clients to leave sanctioned status?
A representative from the Georgia Department of Human Services would like to know if any states use contracted Job Coaches to provide comprehensive job retention, and career advancement services for TANF clients?
A representative from Nevada Division of Welfare and Supportive Services would like to know if other States in-house or contracted services for employment and training programs?
A representative from Washington State would like to know which cities/states are utilizing contracted Doctors to provide medical statements to screen participants into suitable employment when possible? Seattle, Washington is struggling with the types of medicals received from the client's own Doctors which tend to say the client is unable to perform any type of work.
Have any States used self-employment with TANF Recipients? If so, please describe program features and funding, as well as pros and cons (for the customer and for your state)?
Do any members have information or resources on, or samples of, strength-based family assessments?
Are WIA funds allowable to be utilized for OJT programs for apprenticeship programs with the labor unions?
Arizona is considering mandating that some supportive services be issued to participants as incentives for participation for supportive services that are common to all participants, such as, clothing allowances. Are there any other states that are offering any type of support or service to participants as an incentive for continued participation other than monies pertaining to employment retention?
