Government\Community Engagement
Since TANF cash assistance is temporary and provides only basic assistance, many times it does not meet all the needs of a family. Recent emphasis on developing community partnerships has addressed this challenge faced by TANF participants, with communities supplementing TANF cash assistance with non-cash supports to families. Such assistance helps families stabilize housing, transportation, child care, and other issues so individuals can maintain meaningful employment, meet their work participation rate, and ultimately transition off TANF.
