The brief also seeks to address the considerations and criteria used to design an optimal rapid learning approach and offers recommendations on how federal agencies can promote the use of rapid learning methods.

This MDRC set of videos identifies how implementation research is used to evaluate and improve program performance in real time, rather than identifying findings at the conclusion of a long-term longitudinal study. Profiles of three programs that have used implementation research are featured in the videos and include Communities in Schools, Detroit Promise Path, and Madison Strategies.

The Administration for Children and Families, is accepting nominations (including self-nominations) of state, territory, and county TANF agencies to become TANF agency pilots under the TANF Data Collaborative and receive support in becoming more data-driven in their program delivery. Up to eight pilot sites will be selected for a period of 30 months and will receive direct funding, targeted and hands-on technical assistance and training, individual support from TANF and data analytic experts, and peer learning opportunities on data use in program design and administration.

This Office of Planning, Research, and Evaluation report assesses the impact and outcomes of the employment coaching model. Key questions in this evaluation include analysis about the intermediate outcomes related to pursuing goals and employment and economic security outcomes for low-income people and whether the impacts of the coaching interventions change over time or differ among the diverse groups of participants. The report also examines how employment coaching models were implemented and what contributes to how and whether employment coaching is implemented.

This Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation annual compendium provides comparative analysis of TANF cash assistance programs within all 50 states and the District of Columbia and identifies changes in cash assistance rules that govern TANF state programs that have occurred over time or at a single point in time. The annual publication also presents tables that describe the dimensions of state policies thru July 2018 and longitudinal analysis of state policies between 1996 and 2018.

This Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation report examines the Minnesota Subsidized and Transitional Employment Demonstration (MSTED) program that is designed to increase employment outcomes for persons who receive benefits for more than six months under the state’s Minnesota Family Investment Program (Minnesota’s TANF program). This implementation study looked at the outcomes from November 2014 to December 2016 in three counties to identify gains in employment and earnings, reduced receipt of public assistance, and overall well-being.
