During this workshop, discussion focused on transforming the delivery of anti-poverty tax credits. The California Department of Social Services (CDSS), together with the California Policy Lab (CPL) and Code for America (CFA), discussed the Department’s tax outreach effort for California's TANF and SNAP participants.

During this concurrent workshop, presenters discussed a framework for how states can use the flexibility they have to redesign their TANF programs to promote racial equity. An interactive discussion with attendees included responses to the framework from different vantage points.

During this concurrent workshop, discussion focused on sharing lessons from the Pathways Clearinghouse. In addition to the enormous challenges COVID-19 posed to TANF agencies’ service delivery, it also led to sharp increases in unemployment.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Office of Family Assistance (OFA) conducted the 2021 National TANF Directors’ Meeting from September 20 - 24, 2021. During this concurrent workshop, speakers from two projects funded by the Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation presented research and on-the-ground experiences from programs that adapted service provision to maintain and develop new connections with employers during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as respond to job seekers’ health, substance use, and recovery needs.

California examined wage progression for TANF participants who have left the program.

During this workshop, presenters included two economic mobility leaders in Georgia and Massachusetts who have changed the way they do business to better serve young parents and engage them in TANF, with the explicit goals of helping participants achieve greater economic mobility outcomes.

The National Association of Workforce Development Professionals will convene its annual Youth Symposium as a virtual event from December 7 to December 9, 2020. The symposium will feature workshops in the areas of: Educating and Training Our Future Workforce; Employment, Retention, and Advancement; Overcoming Barriers; Recruiting and Engaging Youth; and Self-Care for Workforce Professionals. Workshops will include live and pre-recorded sessions. There is a registration fee to participate.
