The Office of Family Assistance will be livestreaming sessions from the 2019 National Tribal TANF/NEW Summit on September 16-17, 2019, and the 2019 National TANF State Directors’ Meeting, Helping Families to Overcome: Partnering to Build a Stronger Society on September 17-19, 2019. Both events will be held in Arlington, Virginia, and will provide state, tribal, and territory TANF administrators, staff, and stakeholders with actionable and replicable implementation strategies for improving employment and self-sufficiency outcomes for customers and families.

MDRC will host a webinar on July 18, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. ET to introduce the TANF Data Collaborative (TDC) and launch the TDC Pilot. Presenters will discuss three ways that TDC supports data-driven management and will cover how TANF agencies can access TDC pilot funding and receive a scholarship for attending data analytics training.

More than half the caseload of the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program consists of child-only cases, in which a child receives TANF cash assistance but the parent or caregiver does not. The most common type of child-only case is a nonparent caregiver case, consisting of children being cared for by someone other than their parents, often a grandparent.

Supervisors, would you like to help staff strengthen their skills and grow as coaches by observing them in action? This webinar walked the supervisor through the steps needed to prepare for, complete, and deliver post-observation feedback to their field staff. A Coaching Observation Tool was also provided. Noncustodial parents (NCPs) want to be positively involved in their children’s lives but often face obstacles, including legal issues and inability to attain economic security and to pay child support consistently. In a recent Information Memorandum, the Administration for Children and Families reminded jurisdictions of their ability to use TANF funds to provide employment services to noncustodial parents to help needy families provide for their children and rise out of poverty.
