How to use the Resource Library

Peer TA’s library includes a variety of Resources/Reports, Question and Answers, and Innovative Programs. You can filter by each one of these types of resources by clicking on the left.

  • Resources include Peer TA and other OFA technical assistance event reports and materials and resources from stakeholders with research on the TANF program and low-income families. We also include research from the Self Sufficiency Research Clearinghouse.
  • Questions and Answers are submitted by TANF stakeholders around the country designed to facilitate the process of information-sharing regarding important topics related to TANF programs and low-income families.
  • Innovative Programs refer to creative methods of administering the TANF program, imaginative ways that services are provided, or new means of helping TANF participants with multiple barriers.  The topic area includes Innovative Programs that have been submitted by other States.

There are two methods to find materials in the Peer TA Library.

  1. Keyword Search
    1. To conduct a keyword search, simply type a title, or keyword into the search box and click on the blue arrow. The number of results and the terms searched will display above the filters on the left hand side of the screen.
  2. Filter Search
    1. Users can also find materials in the Peer TA Library by selecting one filter, or a combination of filters. You can filter the Peer TA Library by topic, subtopic, date, the type of content, geographic area (urban, rural, suburban; ACF region; State/Territory; city/county; Tribe). The number of results and the filter used will display on the top of the left hand navigation bar. If you would like to further refine your search, you can select an additional filter. You can combine as few or as many filters as you would like to search for items in the Peer TA Library.

Understanding the Dynamics and Tactics of Intimate Partner Violence through the Lens of Indigenous Survivors

The National Indigenous Women's Resource Center will host this webinar on October 21, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET. The webinar will feature a discussion of the causes of domestic violence in Indigenous communities. The goal of the webinar is to explain the dynamics of intimate partner violence (IPV) from a survivor's perspective and to highlight the importance of cultural practices in building capacity to provide respectful and effective advocacy with those surviving IPV and other types of domestic violence.

This webpage from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is comprised of fast facts, risk and protective factors, prevention strategies, and resources related to Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) and Teen Dating Violence. There is also a technical package that contains evidence-based programs, policies, practices, and strategies focused on preventing IPV and its consequences on individuals across the lifespan.

Messaging the Connections: Explaining the Links between Strengthening Economic Supports and Preventing Sexual and Intimate Partner Violence

This web conference was hosted by PreventConnect, a national project of the California Coalition Against Sexual Assault (CALCASA) in collaboration with the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence. The web conference discussed strengthening economic supports and security for women and families to prevent sexual and intimate partner violence, as well as adverse effects resulting from this violence.

This Indian Health Service grant announcement provides 501(c)(3) organizations an opportunity to apply for funding to support a variety of services to improve the healthcare of the American Indian/Alaska Native community through outreach and education efforts. Eligible organizations include those with expertise in representing Tribal governments and administering national health policy and health programs, including work in substance abuse and suicide prevention, domestic violence prevention, HIV/AIDS outreach and education, and diabetes work. The application closing date is June 29, 2020.

Preventing and Addressing Intimate Violence when Engaging Dads (PAIVED): Challenges, Successes, and Promising Practices from Responsible Fatherhood Programs

This Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation report reviews current Responsible Fatherhood (RF) program approaches undertaken to prevent and tackle intimate partner violence (IPV) and domestic violence. The report illustrates the programs’ strengths and gaps in their services and referrals and promising practices that may improve service provision to address IPV. There is also discussion about new directions for research in IPV prevention, given the success, challenges, and barriers in service delivery that RF programs experience.

The Vicarious Trauma Toolkit

This U.S. Department of Justice’s Office for Victims of Crime webpage discusses vicarious trauma and contains suggestions for coworkers and supervisors who may be experiencing vicarious trauma, as well as family members of victim service providers and first responders, who are also often affected by work-related trauma exposure. The webpage also highlights the Vicarious Trauma Toolkit (VTT), which introduces a new model for examining and conceptualizing the impact of vicarious trauma and the reactions and experiences of victim service providers and first responders.
