Self-Sufficiency Research Clearinghouse (SSRC)

Based on input from practitioners, policymakers, and researchers, the Self-Sufficiency Research Clearinghouse (SSRC) has been designed as a one-stop portal for self-sufficiency information to connect research to policy and practice. The SSRC, located at, provides high quality, timely research and evaluation on self-sufficiency, and has been designed to enhance collaboration and partnerships between and among researchers, policymakers, and practitioners representing cross-disciplinary areas. Through a dynamic and interactive interface, the SSRC features a virtual, searchable library where research and resources are organized by topic and can be filtered by topic, subtopic, keyword, year, publisher, geographic focus, research methodology, and/or target population. The SSRC's 12 key topic areas include:

The SSRC provides researchers, policymakers, and practitioners with a one stop portal to access peer-reviewed research and evaluation studies, high quality resource materials and policy briefs, as well as other resources targeted for key stakeholders in the self-sufficiency arena.

The Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation (OPRE) supports the SSRC, and provides research and analysis to ACF programs. The SSRC addresses a component of OPRE's core mission by providing a platform for synthesizing and disseminating research and demonstration findings.
