Dear Colleague Letter on TANF Disaster Preparedness and Response Playbook
The Office of Family Assistance (OFA) and the Office of Human Services Emergency Preparedness and Response (OHSEPR) released a Dear Colleague Letter (DCL) to announce the recently published TANF Disaster Preparedness and Response Playbook. In response to recent major disasters, OFA and OHSEPR collaborated on the development of the playbook for TANF programs, offering high-level recommendations and strategies that administrators can implement to leverage non-recurrent short-term benefits and support families affected by disasters. The DCL describes how the playbook can aid TANF administrators to add non-recurrent short-term benefits to their TANF plan as part of a jurisdiction's preparedness, response, and recovery efforts. This letter also notes that the playbook can help programs leverage TANF flexibilities before, during, and after disasters.
