2021 National TANF Directors’ Meeting Session: It’s Time for TANF to Engage Lived Experience Experts in More Than Just Their Case Plans
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Office of Family Assistance (OFA) conducted the 2021 National TANF Directors’ Meeting from September 20 - 24, 2021. This call-to-action session, co-led by lived experience experts, gave TANF programs on-the-ground tools, advice, and examples of how engaging current and former TANF customers in more than their case plans will improve outcomes for families and TANF programs. Presenters shared literature and research on the impacts of lived experience expert engagement on human service research, practice, and policy reform, and provided examples from other human service fields, such as child welfare and victim services.
